Amazon is the largest online retailer out there today. That means that people are going to go on the platform to buy whatever stuff they can find (which is a lot).

As an e-commerce expert, I always come across people that want to establish their own online businesses but are afraid to go against an age that is dominated by Amazon. Well, I am here to tell you that you can actually become a successful businessman despite the presence of an online retailer behemoth that is Amazon.

In today’s article, I will provide you with some good tips for e-commerce growth in 2020.

Improve Customer Relationships

Always remember that for a business to thrive, you must always cater to the needs of your customers. That being said, as a would-be online entrepreneur, you have to know the types of customers so that you can effectively plot a campaign to serve each of them better. Here are just some of the common customers that you can come across:

  • Emotional- This talks about your customers having an emotional bond with your products. Think about sentimentality and love for a certain brand. To accommodate this type of customer, you have to make sure that your brands ‘speak’ to the customer at an emotional level. Perhaps you can craft a heartfelt message as part of your product description
  • Transactional- The most basic type of customer, the transactional customer is one that only seeks to buy things and pay for the said products. You can entice this customer to keep on buying from you by offering discounts, product perks, item customization, and so much more.

Content Does Matter

By content, I mean written content. When you look at the most successful e-commerce stores, you will find that they either have a blogging platform or some internal pages that highlight content that is relevant to the products and services that they sell. What does this tell you? It tells you that you have to give your customers a reason to care about what you have to sell.

It would be great if you could write a content piece that will do this, but if you are busy doing your business operations, then you can hire an SEO writer to help you.

Consider Your Direct Response Channels

Now, you’ve created some content that you know will help entice your customers to buy from you, the next step of the process is by using different marketing funnels to promote said content. Now, you might think that this tip is counterintuitive simply because I’ve stated earlier that you can survive this era that is dominated mainly by Amazon, but the said platform can actually help benefit your business in the long run. Let me explain.

You can actually benefit from Amazon by selling products directly on their platform. This should be done in conjunction with your main website as well.

If your product sells like hotcakes on Amazon, you can expect people to search for your company more readily than before. This, then, would increase sales and conversions.
